7 Keys to Supporting Loved Ones Experiencing Domestic Violence
The numbers are Shocking. Startling. Staggering. Sickening. Sobering.
- 1 out of 4 women in the U.S. will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.
- 1 out of 7 men in the U.S. will experience domestic violence in his lifetime.
- 1 out of 3 teens in the U.S. will experience domestic violence while in high school.
This is unacceptable. Things have got to change.
These stupefying statistics suggest that you have been, currently are, or will be a domestic violence victim or that someone you love has been, is, or will be a victim of domestic violence. Domestic violence is a complex issue. It is not limited to physical abuse. It also encompasses electronic, emotional, financial, mental, and verbal abuse, as well as stalking.
As a society, we can no longer afford to ignore domestic violence in each of its forms. It is pervasive and adversely impacting our family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. F.R.I.E.N.D.S. for LIFE strives to educate, enlighten and empower the reader to help break the silence that continues to shroud domestic violence by providing an easy-to-follow guide on how to support the people experiencing domestic abuse in their lives.
